The moment the girls will want to see again again!

After a delayed kickoff the Stingers knew that only 3 points would do to lift their first ever title. An organised and disciplined side led out by captain fantastic Angie gave 100% from the first whistle to the end against a very talented Mersy Girls side.

The attacking play was quick and fluid with one and two touch football which has become a trademark of a team that has proven it can compete with the best of best.

After a poor tackle in our own half the Ref decided strangely that despite Armstrong being through on goal there was no advantage and pulled play back for a free kick. A thumping ball into the box from Naine Ruddock only needed a touch and the ball was in the back of the net! Stingers 1-0 up at the break.

The second half Mersy started to show their quality but a rock solid defence was not to beaten. At the other end multitude of chances including a clear cut penalty should have put the game to bed with the brilliant crowd cheering from the sidelines. One goal proved to be enough however, and the Stingers were finally crowned as Division One South Champions with promotion into the Northwest Womens Premier League for the first time in the clubs history!

Ally Brown, his first season in charge has taken a group of talented individuals and turned them into a team of champions!
